Battery status of laptop not shown

I have successfully installed LMDE 6 next to Windows 11 on my Fujitsu laptop A3510. Unfortunately the battery status symbol does not appear. Do you know how to fix it, since the battery status is important for mobile use. Thanks. So much

I don't use LMDE 6, but it should be similar to LM. Right click on the panel and search for Applets or Add to Panel.

Not a fix, but does acpi -V in Terminal show the battery level & whether it's charging? If so there may be a temporary workaround (kludge) which I'll post here. I don't have one of those Fujitsu machines myself, to check with.

opensuse is a rather differrent distro from Mint. The packaging system is different, the kernels mentioned there are older than yours so the parameters may have changed, and they're talking about KDE, not Cinnamon. If you don't understand the differences between distros stick to UBuntu or Debian support. I actually got 95% of my useful Mint support info from ubuntuforums.org and askubuntu.com.

The Debian user forums are great but high expertise pro oriented. So the answers are very reliable but you have to dig, and they don't walk newbies through every step.

I​ have a Fujitsu LifeBook A3511 with Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon installation. I have no problems with battery recognition. I tried to boot a live session of LMDE 6 but I got an error: out of memory. I had no time to troubleshoot that yet.

Please post output of the terminal command inxi -Fxxxorz. Is the battery recognized there? Also check output of terminal command cat /sys/class/power_supply/BAT1/uevent. Please use code display tags when posting terminal outputs!



EDIT: I managed to boot in a live session of LMDE 6. Battery is recognized and icon is in the panel.

Strangely, it looks like the battery is really not recognized by LMDE 6. What output do you get with the command ls /sys/class/power_supply?

Is battery working okay in Windows 11? Is fast startup disabled in Windows?

If you boot in a live session from LMDE 6 installation media, do you get the battery icon in the panel, is battery recognized with terminal command inxi -B.

Check this thread about battery not detected problem in Mint/Ubuntu. Maybe these instructions for a workaround are easier to follow. Also one user of A3510 reported that with Ubuntu kernel 6.2 battery is recognized.

I also checked with Linux Mint 21.3 (ubuntu based) via USB stick live session: Also no battery icon available.

Have you tried the Edge version? It has kernel 6.5. You can also try newer kernels which are available in LMDE 6, linux-image-6.5.0-0.deb12.4-amd64​ o​r linux-image-6.6.13+bpo-amd64.

the advice to change to Linux MInt 21.3 Edge with newest kernel 6.5 worked for me. Thank you very much indeed. I have the battery symbol visible now!

Ubuntu newest version was also tried in the live session with USB stick and it also showed the symbol, but I am more familiar with Mint and all my PCs have Mint installed.

I am glad that we have solved the problem. I recommend tlp program to optimize battery power consumption.

I wonder if the A3511 was running okay on battery (without mains power) when the battery was not recognized in LMDE 6.
