[SOLVED] Wacom Cintiq 22 HD Stylus Not Detected

Post by Vafflin »

it was working fine before, but it seems the nvidia drivers updating broke something... im not wise enough to troubleshoot further than seeing the "Wacom Tablet Detection" software lists the stylus yet the "Graphics Tablet" program cant seem to detect it

Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon
Intel i5-13400
Lenovo OEM RTX3050

Using the (recommended) nvidia-driver-535 and nothing shows up as needing an update in the manager.

thanks in advance to all who read through these :P

I know little of these issues, but I do know that the French digital artist https://www.davidrevoy.com/ has done a lot of work in this area, including working with manufacturers to fix issues.

Maybe take a look around his website/blog and maybe Mastodon account - @davidrevoy@framapiaf.org
LinuxMint 21.3 64bit on an no brand ASrock - i5 - 12GB ram

Welcome to the forum, Vafflin.

If it was working fine before, then roll back to a Timeshift snapshot of when it was working and see if it works again.

I am not aware of any relationship between Nvidia drivers and Wacom drivers. Wacom drivers are in the kernel; Nvidia drivers are not.

What Linux-based Wacom Tablet Detection software are you referencing?

Please open the System Reports app and click the System Information tab on the left. Your computer's information should come up in the right pane. Then click the Copy button in the lower right and paste the results into a reply window here so we can see how Linux Mint views your hardware.

I assumed Nvidia drivers had something to do with it because when I first set up the system I could only get it to work on the nouveau drivers... this fixed itself after a few updates. I set up timeshift recently, putting it off not knowing where I wanted to store it ><

The tablet detection stuff was installed by default? Xserver-xorg-input-wacom & Kde-config tablet

A 13th-gen Intel CPU needs to be using a 6 series kernel. Please upgrade.
  • Open Update Manager.
  • Select View > Linux Kernels and click Continue.
  • Make sure 6.5 is selected on the left panel and then click the top-most option on the right panel. An "Install" button will appear.
  • Install the kernel and then reboot for it to become active.
In fact, if you were starting over I would recommend using the Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon (Edge) Edition ISO which has the 6.5 kernel and is available specifically for newer hardware like yours.

I do not know what "kde-config tablet" you are referencing. That package is not part of a Linux Mint Cinnamon install.

The Wacom files are part of the kernel and it's possible the newer kernel will have newer files which will help with this issue.

Im kinda settled in and would prefer not doing this at the moment...

Prolly misremembering then, those two are the only ones that show up if you write "wacom" into the software manager (aside from some irrelevant downloader)

it all worked not too long ago and I havent changed anything past having downloaded Steam and all the software manager updates (I check pretty frequently)

Good to hear. Please go to your first post in this topic, click the pencil icon, and add [SOLVED] to the beginning of the title and submit the revised post so others know you are no longer seeking help on this issue.

If you have upgraded the kernel then you already have the equivalent installed. I was just giving you that information for future reference.
