[solved] Suddenly no sound, dummy output

Post by rhenium3 »

So we have been using the computer no problem and then suddenly our sound is gone. Granted, I did catch my 4 year old clicking around randomly.

We now have the "Dummy Output" in sound settings.

Here is some info:

I tried updating everything and still no sound. Looked on the forums but I'm stumped, this is over my head now. Thx

Did you recently change your operating kernel?

No, I haven't done any recent changes... But my kid was clicking around. :(

And when I did a fresh install 6 months ago there was no sound issue that I recall.

Ok, I don't know hwat happened but we have sound today! And the dummy output is gone.

Yesterday I went through the trouble shooting pinned on the sound section of the forum, but after reboot, didn't change anything. Could a full shut down vs reboot make the difference?

Anyways, all good now. Thanks!

A hard shutdown is the next thing to try after a restart does not help. I believe in Keeping It Simple.

Glad that you are ok.
