[SOLVED] 2nd Monitor not identified | can't set up display extension

Post by loupra »

Dear Linux Mint community,

This is my first post and I'm reaching for help at a "dual monitor"/"Display Extension" issue. I searched the forum and also other web pages, but didn't find information to solve my issue.

I'm running Linux Mint 21.3 (Virginia) on a mini PC from Bluejour [https://www.bleujour.com/en/computer/wood-kubb/]. To each of the onboard HDMI interfaces, I've attached a Samsung monitor (1920x1080).

Both monitors are displaying the same content (they are just mirrored). But, I would like to use them in Extension mode. Under System settings -> Display only one Screen is shown as "Default".

On this Mini PC, I also have a Windows 11 installation and there Extension is working without any problem. So, it seems not to be a hardware issue in general.

Any help is highly appreciated and please let me know if more detailed information is needed

Best regards
Raimund

Hey loupra,
although you sent your device model, it would be very helpful if you send your entire system information here. You can find it in "System Reports > System Information > Copy". Please enclose it in
and
. Then we can better find problems with system components.

Re: 2nd Monitor not identified | can't set up display extension

Post by AndyMH »

This is your problem:

Code: Select all

 Kernel: 5.15.0-97-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 11.4.0 Desktop: Xfce 4.18.1
Intel 13th gen CPU is too new for that kernel.

Hence:

Code: Select all

Graphics:
 Device-1: Intel driver: N/A
Go to mint update (in the system tray in your panel) , view > linux kernels and install a 6.5 kernel.

Dear AndyMH,

thanks a lot for your fast and helpful reponse. A 6.5 kernel was installed and immediately, the system extended the screen.

I'll edit the subject of the original post and add [SOLVED] at the beginning of the line.
