No new dirt bike
You know you're getting old when you can't afford one--astronomical

Everything in life was difficult before it became easy.

You know you are getting old when you can no longer lift your leg over the seat to mount the bike. That is my age!

Re: No new dirt bike
When I was younger and healthier, I couldn't afford one. Now that I'm older, I can afford one but, somewhere, I developed a sense of mortality and no longer want one. Not to mention the cagers on the streets are scary.
Besides, at my age, if laid one down and survived without any major injuries (highly unlikely, BTW), I wouldn't be able to lift it back up.

Re: No new dirt bike
when I was younger, and was riding Dirt Bikes,
I was invincible.....
did totally stupid things, and kept the rubber side down...
3 years ago, I nearly passed out from a heatstroke while riding my Honda GL1800 Goldwing....
woke up headed towards a deep ravine,
to the left I caught sight of a construction yard, and kept my eyes on that....
the bike followed my eyes....
had friends take my bike to the trailer, and tie it down.
that was the last time I rode it....
at 81 now, I have no interest in riding bikes.
I have a Piaggio MP3 250cc that I sometimes get on in warm weather,
and ride around a bit, maybe 15 minutes, and then put it up.

Re: No new dirt bike
I'm not fit enough to ride a dirt bike now, and have no desire to get fit enough to do so, even though I could! I do ride a road bike (Suzuki Boulevard C50). I've had to pick that up 4 times in it's life, I try and avoid that too, Fortunately all were low speed falls (at most 10mph).

Same here---certainly not how i once rode.I'm not fit enough to ride a dirt bike now, and have no desire to get fit enough to do so,
So I am supposed to be placated with a Polaris side-by-side--it is what it is--but all in all boring.
A neighbor rebuilt a YZ400. Most fun I've had in years

Re: No new dirt bike
I almost bought a small 400cc bike a few months ago, I dreamed of the days in 1955-1977 when I rode like a scalded cat through crazy canyons and jumped off the Rims down into the sandy river bottom below....
but, at 81, bones don't heal like they used to, so I passed on that one.
