The one logansfury posted works with a hostfile the user can fill in. The original works with what arp finds in your network and shows icons in front of then.Bleys wrote: ⤴Fri Feb 09, 2024 4:41 amThanks! I will change this for LUA and post the result,Logansfury wrote: ⤴Fri Feb 09, 2024 3:26 am

First Version for LUA. The script returns all IPs alive:
Although this is relatively fast with fping, the time can be shortened further if only the areas (DHCP, for example) that are actually used are specified.
I am currently setting up the ranges. 30 addresses for DHCP, 20 for all my own devices and 5 for routers and servers.
Code: Select all
#!/bin/sh
count=1
listalive=""
while [ $count -lt 254 ]
do
ipaddr="192.168.3."$count
pvar=$(fping -q -c1 -t100 "$ipaddr" >/dev/null 2>&1; echo $?)
count=$(( $count + 1 ))
if [ $pvar -eq 0 ]
then
if [ "$listalive" = "" ]; then listalive=$ipaddr; else
listalive=$listalive","$ipaddr
fi
fi
done
echo $listalive

Re: Getting Conky weather icons from Bleys to work [SOLVED]
Some weirdness concerning the special character issue.
The squared arrows still show as a squared pair of arrows on the weather display intended for the HP box. On the Dell box in the weather display fitted into the Minimalis setup, I tried to replace the word "update" with the symbol and got the empty square character again, while the comparison widget on the desktop is correctly showing its character. And here in the forum, all my pastes of the squared double arrow have become circular double arrows.
Very strange >.<

I now know a bit more about Unicode.
There is a private range for Unicode characters (similar to the IP4 ranges for private networks) FontAwesome uses a code from this private range (E000-F8FF) for the square update character (F079)
So the square update character is only available with an Awesome font!
Other Chars for Update you can find in any DejaVu Font, Awesome Fonts, FreeMono, FreeSerif, MathJax_AMS, Noto Sans Math:
↺ (U+21BA) ↻ (U+21BB) ⟲ (U+27F2) ⟳ (U+27F3) ⮔ (U+2B94) ⥁ (U+2941)
Or Unicode Color Emoji in Font Noto Color Emoji:

This is so wierd. So my browser display of the squared double arrow, has suddenly stopped showing and only one of my two weather conkys are displaying it correctly. This is beyond weird >.< .o0O( migraine face )

Re: Getting Conky weather icons from Bleys to work [SOLVED]
I finally got a 2nd version of the widget with the compass art to accept a transparent BG. This gives me an alternate look with my last completed Minimalis in place. You can see how much I had to shave off of this Minimalis to create room for a more narrow version of the weather widget. This gives me an opportunity to appreciate the compass art on my main system. I don't sit at the HP Linux box as often.

~/.fonts directory contains 69 items
~/.local/share/fonts contains 10 fonts and a text doc named .uuid
the new symbola font isnt here to show me it's correct name for the sudo command.
I would assume it's
Code: Select all
sudo apt install fonts-symbola-font

also, you had mentioned in an earlier post to double click the .ttf file to install. While this has always worked for me on windows, on Linux I get this:
It seems the majority of my fonts aren't completely installed. And I don't understand why after doing the sudo install of font awesome it is not showing under ~/.local/share/fonts

Open the link I posted above. Scroll down a bit and click on "Free Download".

Open the unzipped folder "symbola-font"
Doubleclick "Symbola-AjYx.ttf

Re: Getting Conky weather icons from Bleys to work [SOLVED]
Bleys, I swear from the bottom of my heart, I'm not trying to be difficult. But Font-Viewer is not in the programs list, I tried to type it in and add it but after typing Font-Viewer I got an "X" in the type box and the "Add to list" button is greyed out. I am on 21.3 Victoria | Cinnamon 6.0.4
What should I do now please?
Re: Getting Conky weather icons from Bleys to work [SOLVED]
Code: Select all
sudo apt install font-viewer
and apart from very rare exceptions, all internal program names are written in lower case. My mistake...

Re: Getting Conky weather icons from Bleys to work [SOLVED]
That's got it. So I am looking at all these 69 fonts in the .fonts dir, they are all showing as installed, but only 10 of 69 are under the local/share/fonts dir.
Re: Getting Conky weather icons from Bleys to work [SOLVED]
This is correct. Only fonts that are installed by double-clicking in the font viewer end up in .local/share/fonts.Logansfury wrote: ⤴Fri Feb 09, 2024 8:21 pm
