Nothing special, simple and old-fashioned as I like ...
Very aesthetic GUI. I like what you put together!

Now that is really nice! The resolution looks great, the wallpaper is beautiful and tranquil and I love your Minimalis.

Excellent! Love the simplicity and the theming. For some reason it reminds me of a Window Maker theme.

I might stick with this a while.
Conky is Victor, with minor color adjustment.

Very serene desktop. That conky is very cool, but why is the date in a different font from the rest of the Victor display?

I noticed that too, but haven't bothered to change it yet. I might just comment the date out entirely since I usually know what day it is  .

So it came default like that? I wonder why the author didn't name the fonts consistently.

Yep. The default for everything except the date is "Zekton". I just changed the date to match and it does look better. Personal choice by the dev, I suppose.

Little details can make a huge difference in conkys!

That is an amazing screen capture! I just found the new video card in the linux box supports 2560x1440 resolution and only one of my pair of Asus 27" monitors is capable of displaying that, so I just treated myself to a pair of 32" LG 1440p Monitors. Amazon will have them here friday.

Already looking forward to editing my minimalis for the new resolution. I should have room for the version of weather widget with the compass art :)

I love simplicity, but I'm also nostalgic :)

Mint TEN??

You must be running very few modern apps?

The look is awesome retro, and the fact you have this functioning is nerdtastic :D

Can we get a closer look? Screenshot of a specs command? List of hardware perhaps?

What a fun project this must have been!

It was hard to find hardware which will not end up with kernel panic. This one turned out to be OK:

Code: Select all

Linux Mint 10 Julia
Kernel:
2.6.35-22-generic
CPU:
Dual core Intel Core i5-2410M
Graphics:
Intel Sandy Bridge Integrated Graphics Controller
nVidia Device 0df4 X.Org 1.9.0
Res:
1366x768@60.0hz
Audio:
Intel Cougar Point High Definition Audio Controller
Network:
Card-1 Realtek RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller driver r8169
Card-2 Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) driver ath9k BusID: 03:00.0
Disks:
HDD SanDisk_SDSSDA12 120.0GB
Memory:
424.3/3869.5MB
Don't get me wrong, I'm not much into the "software archaeology", except maintaining one Debian 8 installation in VB, Debian has the apt-cdrom protocol and you can install almost any old package from three DVDs :). Anyway my current system at the moment is

Code: Select all

kernel: 6.7.4-1
systemd: 254.8-4.1
grub2: 2.12-8.1
LibreOffice: 7.6.4.1
gcc: 13.2.1
clang: 17
cryptsetup: 2.7.0
