Is litttle old my pc, but works great. i have Nvidia grpahic, on 2gb RAM, is sempron.
Well, at last day using LinuxMint XFCE 17.2 the screen start to distortion when i used Stellariuum software (astronomical). I made a quit clean installation of 17.3 XFCE (I deleted all .directorys except .chrome. chromium, .firefox, for get the configurations). But in new system frequently have graphic distortion: the words in titles is not possible to read, is liko noise. Sometimes in screen or just in browser distortion all, like semi rotation and all images very large, to some side.

I uso xfwm4 + comositing because is faster than with out compositing. Is too slow using just xfwm4
xfwm4 + compton is slow and do the same
metacity + compositing is fine (by now) but is not possible change window decoration.
Compotn option i prefer to use. Compiz not work, turn all screen blanck and i can do nothing.

I uso Nvidia drivers because nouveau didnt work, all screen have colors bar, and see nothing.

I didnt know how fix it. Is the first time in years that i have seial problems in linux.

I put a image about distortion words.

And some information about my pc.

I think you're simply asking too much of that weak old machine....

See this post, which seems to be talking about the same nvidia card (I always search ubuntuforums and askubuntu first):

You may have problems running Flash on an old machine like that. Definitely try installing HTML5 browser plugins, there's a shift to HTML5 afoot anyway.

And turn off all display compositing ... I do that on newer hardware with better support.
