Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop (Core 2 Duo)
Linux Mint 17.2

Internal adaper no connected-broken.
Using TP-Link wireless USB adapter

It worked under Windows Vista (Vista was problematic). I fix (reset computers for chrches, schools, etc. for nothing. This laptop has a dead battery, bad internal adapter... Use as extra.)

When computer boots the building wifi is detected but not autoconnected (as under Vista). I connect to a strong signal, but shortly after it drops. This happens all the time under LM 17.2 and 17.1.

I am using the same system on the computer that I am using now with no problems.

Are you sure it disconnects? IOW, can you still use the internet when it says it's disconnected?

We have a Belkin USB WiFi adapter, which Mint17 repeatedly claims is disconnected, then reconnected, but it actually continues working fine all the time if you just ignore the messages.

Please generate an overview of your system like this:
- Launch a terminal window (this is how to launch a terminal window);
- make the terminal window full screen, to avoid chopped lines;
- copy/paste this command into the terminal:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
(if you type: the letter F is a capital letter)

Press Enter.

Copy/paste the output in your next message.
