[SOLVED]Newly added applet to the panel cannot be seen
Have anyone installed the weather applet to Cinnamon panel?
I did exactly as in http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets/view/17, but I can't see it on the panel or in the add/remove applets window.
A Cinnamon applet based on the Gnome Shell weather extension.
"To install, run the ./install script and restart Cinnamon (alt+F2, r)."
What might have I done wrong?

Re: Newly added applet to the panel cannot be seen
I just installed the weather applet on Mint 13 today.
To run the script, I did CD to where I extracted the file, and entered this command: ./install.sh
Then I rebooted before I attempted to "add/remove applets." (I had also installed a bunch of other stuff, including a video driver.)
I went to the web page to get my location code, and it is working very nicely.

Re: Newly added applet to the panel cannot be seen
I have the same problem. The extension is installed successfully but after I select it to add to panel nothing happens. When executing cinnamon-weather-settings I get this
** (cinnamon-weather-settings:2486): WARNING **: The connection is closed. No settings are saved and no weather is shown. Any ideas?
P.S. I solved the problem. You have to run install.sh with the user account.

Re: Newly added applet to the panel cannot be seen
I got it working. Extracted weather@mockturl was copied to ./local/share/cinnamon/applets and ran ./install.sh in Terminal and the activated it in ADD/Remove applets.
Re: [SOLVED]Newly added applet to the panel cannot be seen
This isn't solved for me so would appreciate some help if anyone can. Mint 13 Cinnamon x64 - followed all the instructions and it appears in my panel. Clicking however either produces either an unrecognisable blob or a perfectly formed mini window, but with nothing in it to click on. Any ideas please?

Re: Newly added applet to the panel cannot be seen
This is not yet solved. I was able to install runningthe install.sh script within the weather folder within the cinnimon applet forlder - but now when I click on the curved arrow icon that results, I get a perfectly formed mini window, but with nothing in it to click on.
THANKS EVERYONE for helping

Re: [SOLVED]Newly added applet to the panel cannot be seen
Sorry - was able to solve it myself. Needs SUDO to run install - if you do it regular it results in the curved arrow - but if done as an administrator it is successful.
Hope that is of help to those still "stuck"

Re: [SOLVED]Newly added applet to the panel cannot be seen
Mint 17 Cinnamon x64 also tried to add a new applet - System monitor & Weather Applet without success. The Weather applet shows only a refresh icon. Set x flag to both. On the Applet download [url]site:http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets/view/17[/url] is a mentioning about unavailability of install part.
Any ideas how to fix or add applets?

Re: [SOLVED]Newly added applet to the panel cannot be seen
Am having the same problem! 2 years and 4 releases later.
Re: [SOLVED]Newly added applet to the panel cannot be seen
Found out that at the Weather applet you have to enter your 'weather location ID' from the linked url. This URL is provided if at least the Weather applet is showing the refresh icons. System monitor applet can be replaced by another hardware monitor applet. The rest of applets are also working on LM17 Cinnamon but first the icons are not appearing only after a panel restart they show up.
Re: [SOLVED]Newly added applet to the panel cannot be seen
Thanks - but where do I add the code? The applet when added is just "Loading". When I right click it and choose configure it just takes me back to the Applet list screen. How do I enter my location code?
I have restarted Cinnamon and even re-booted, but ut has not helped.
THANKS
