Hello,
Linux MInt 13 Maya installed here with backports repo enabled, so I'm running the newest stable version of cinnamon. I am trying to determine if it is possible to use any type of GTK2/3 window themes and Metacity themes and have support for window transparency in Cinnamon. I like the dark themes and really wanted to use something like the Divergence or Equinox GTK theme, but it appears emerald is needed to get transparency to work. So the question is, are transparent windows currently possible while running Cinnamon DE? Can anybody recommend a good dark theme they are having success with on Cinnamon? Thanks for any suggestions.

You might wan't to look at http://www.linuxmint-art.org
Re: Cinnamon, Window themes, & Transparency?
I took a look there, but wasn't able to find much still. Does everybody running Mint and Cinnamon desktop just use the default "grey" window theme? Right now I'm using Atolm Metacity & Atolm GTK3 themes. I'd like to have some transparency in window borders like Aero in Windows, but I don't like the Aero theme. I want to have unique window style with transparency. Are there any option available that don't involve Emerald and Compiz?

IDK, but note that compiz and cinnamon don't work together. Cinnamon uses its own window manager muffin.
Re: Cinnamon, Window themes, & Transparency?
Right. I know Compiz & Emerald both aren't supported or used by Cinnamon. There may just not be any support for this functionality in Cinnamon yet. I will check over on the Ubuntu forums or Linux Questions forum and see if anybody there has any info, since some people on Ubuntu are also using Cinnamon. Thanks for the reply.

Re: Cinnamon, Window themes, & Transparency?
I haven't used Cinnamon since my first Linux install. That was ver 1.4. I don't think Cinnamon fully supports transparency yet, even with ver 1.6 or whatever is newest. I really don't know. I moved on to KDE. So many more things to adjust you can get lost. It all works, it is not a resouce hog and if you are running new hardware, who cares about this piddly stuff anyway. I like pretty. I like KDE. Here is a thread though: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=208&t=97101
