Install Mint 14 without installing GRUB?

Post by erlantz »

Hello;

there are some way to install Linux Mint 14 (KDE version) without installing GRUB?

I have a install with Kubuntu and Windows and I don't want to reconfigure GRUB after installing Mint 14.

I searched this forum but I didn't find any topic with the same subject.

You can invoke the Linux Mint 14 KDE version installer with a parameter to skip boot loader installation. To do so, press Alt+F2 to open the run dialog, or open a terminal, and start the installer with:

Code: Select all

ubiquity --no-bootloader kde_ui
Alternatively, you can select to install the bootloader to the root partition of your installation instead of to /dev/sda (the MBR of your hard disk). At least, you can on the Cinnamon/MATE/Xfce version of Linux Mint. You will probably have to select to do manual partitioning for that though.
