"Input Not Supported" While Trying To Install LMDE 6
Hi All, I have been doing some research on the differences between the Ubuntu and Debian flavors of Mint, and decided to give Debian a try. However, when I boot from the live media, I get no further than a message on my display saying "Input Not Supported". Any ideas on how to solve this? I'll give some basic info on my system: Optiplex 755, 8 GB DDR2, nVidia Geforce 730 2 GB. If you need more info, please let me know. Thank you for your help.

Did you do the checksum on the iso?

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. I completed the checksum for the iso I downloaded, and it was fine. Is there anything else you think it could be? Please let me know. Thank you.

You have not confirmed what 'Live Media' you have tried? USB drive? DVD?
If you have tried USB drive, try a different input i.e. does DVD work?

Re: "Input Not Supported" While Trying To Install LMDE 6
Hi,
Thank you for your reply. I have tried both, and neither worked. I also tried downloading a new ISO, I verified its checksum AND tried a different USB drive and fresh DVD, and am still getting the same error. Could it possibly be a piece of my hardware that is causing the problem? In order to connect this PC to my monitor, I had to use a DVI to VGA adapter. Please let me know what you think. Thank you for your help.

This message seems to occur when it cannot find a suitable resolution/frequecy for your display. If you have another monitor at hand, try it with that one or try another cabling solution for the monitor.
Re: "Input Not Supported" While Trying To Install LMDE 6
Hi,
Thank you for your reply. My graphics card is a low profile card, and only has two outputs- DVI and Display Port. My monitor has only one open input, VGA. Could someone recommend either a good quality DVI to VGA adapter, or another possible cabling solution? I really appreciate all the help. Thanks.

I'm assuming you're using a VGA cable right? I had this problem years ago and I had to use an "Active" adapter on an Sapphire AMD video card.
What type and size monitor are you using?
I'll look at the nVidia Geforce 730 2 GB and see what's up with that, I have one of those in a box somewhere, and it was actually a fake one that they had flashed the 730 firmware onto I think it was a 630 or something, bad card, could only go up to a certain driver of the card it actually was, which was very outdated.
Here is a link to an Active adapter, but the monitor info would help first so you don't waste the $8 on the adapter.

Re: "Input Not Supported" While Trying To Install LMDE 6
This is probably your card, except yours has the low profile bracket plate right?
Re: "Input Not Supported" While Trying To Install LMDE 6
Hi Ramburner,
Thank you for your reply. Yes, that is my card, and it does have the low profile bracket on it. I am also using a VGA cable. I am using an Acer KB242Y monitor, it is a 24" monitor capable of supporting 1920x1080. I should have posted that earlier, I do apologize. Thank you for your help!

Re: "Input Not Supported" While Trying To Install LMDE 6
Isn't VGA limited to 1024x768?
Re: "Input Not Supported" While Trying To Install LMDE 6
No, it isn't. VGA can suport 1080 resolutions just fine. And yes, tested it myself.
Re: "Input Not Supported" While Trying To Install LMDE 6
Thanks for the information guys, I really appreciate it. Do you all think I need to try an Active adapter for my setup? Please let me know. Thanks.

Re: "Input Not Supported" While Trying To Install LMDE 6
Looking at your monitor it has an HDMI port and a VGA port, for that card you have, get a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and use an HDMI cable and you will have a good digital picture and stop trying to go from the Digital to Analog. Go Digital to Digital, much better. I have this one and it works great, I keep it as a backup in case my video card fails, my system has built in display ports and that is why I bought this one.

If you don't have an HDMI cable here's a good one for $7

Here is my Display Port to HDMI adapter.
Re: "Input Not Supported" While Trying To Install LMDE 6
Thank you for the tips RamBurner, I will do just that. I will report back as soon as I get everything in (I will have to get both the adapter and an HDMI cable, I do not have any more). Thanks again for everyone's advice!

Just looking and checking to see if your problem got resolved.
