Help! Garbled or black lock screen under certain conditions

Post by nifty_bits »

I'm having a problem that appears similar to this issue here, wherein the lock screen is either mangled or black, with a working cursor, and I can still type my password and get back to the desktop. The odd thing is, this only happens under certain screen configurations. I have two monitors, one running at 4k and the other at 1080p. The 4k one is primary. If the smaller screen is set up to be either to the left or right of the primary one in display settings, I get the garbled lock screen. If the smaller screen is above or below, lock screen looks fine. Display scaling seems to have no effect.

I am having this issue on my main installation but did a second install (same machine, different drive) to see if it would happen on a completely fresh install (it does :(). I really want my screens side-by-side (to reflect their physical layout), but I can't stand having a messed up lock screen. Anyone got any ideas?

Welcome to the Forum.

Try the 6.5 kernel from Update Manager / View / Linux kernels.

Welcome to the forum, nifty_bits.

Are you saying the problem is temporary and once you type your password it clears?
And the password lock is only showing on the smaller screen which is garbled? Or are both screens garbled?

Did you go through the bug report in the link to see if it sounded similar?
