Adding windows-like right click drag context menu?

Post by nicknonya »

Hi!
I've been using mint for around a month or so now, and I like it, one of the things that has been bothering me however is how right click doesn't have any drag menu, I know that I can just hold ctrl while dragging to copy or link files but I'm a creature of habit and I'd rather use a context menu.
Is there any way to get this functionality?

Don't know how relevant these are but the 'how to get help' post said to include system details:

Welcome to the Forum.

That would be fairly difficult to implement. It's not a simple thing.

You can make a feature request to the Mint developers:
https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon/issues/
https://github.com/orgs/linuxmint/discussions

Member smurphos used to post often on here, not so much after he moved to Portugal.
He did a quantity of right click Nemo additions.
His github page is here

I'm not clear on where you would like to right click to see the drag menu.....

If you want this functionality when you right click on the desktop, sorry can't help you.
if you want this functionality in Nemo when you right click, sorry I still can't help you but I can offer an alternative method that may be to your liking.

As follows:

Start Nemo
click Edit>Preferences>Context Menu
Select Copy To and Move To
exit Preferences
In Nemo press F3 to get a second tab
In one side of the 2 displayed highlight the files you impact and then right click. The context menu will have a Copy To and a Move To option. When you select Copy To/Move To you can then target the other pane
