after install lm does not load just grub>

Post by Sw4mint »

Dell Inspiron 7706 2n1 came with Win 11. Created a partition with Phoenix android OS. Now OS Phoenix discontinued. Text came up in Chinese. Uninstaller Phoenix. Partition is still there. Thought I could use it for new install Linux Mint 21.2 Victoria. Tried Rufus to create boot disk in Win. Would not work. No bookable device message. Made new USB by formatting USB in Win, downloaded LM Iso. Success full creation of boot disk.

Then checked Win Bios. Fast boot disabled. TPM disabled. Avast Anti-virus Uninstaller, Norton temporarily suspended. Exited. Rebooted to Advanced options and chose Boot from USB. Voila! LM came up. So far so good. I found articles on Google that told me LM would create its necessary partitions on install. Did not see 'something else' option come up, and it began install.
On reboot it booted directly to grub with USB in or out. Message says only limited commands can be used. Tab shows list available commands. I know none of them as I am newbie. Decided to try cold start from off button start no USB to bring up Win 11. No dice. Boots to grub prompt only. Tried reinstall but does not recognize USB now.

Am totally lost. Do I need a PC doctor to fix it or what? My Inspiron has adequate hardware and 400 something gig space and plenty of ram. Any help would be appreciated.
