Can I get back the window buttons from 21.1 in 21.2?

I've been using the Mint-Y-Dark-Red theme and it seems the window buttons were changed in the update but I quite liked it the way it was before. Also I noticed that some things are now in a lighter red than the rest of the theme which looks weird.

Sorry, I might've been unclear, I mean, minimize, maximize and close. Before they looked pretty similar to windows which i liked.

Did you try adding the gtk.css file?

I'm not sure what exactly you are meaning, but to get larger buttons you need to un-comment the final section of the gtk.css file as noted in that file

Yeah, for me that just changes the title bar color though, which is not what I want.

Try these old themes. Rename the folders with the new theme and place the downloaded and unpacked old one next to it.

Hm how do I extract the themes from the github? Seems like it uses a python script to generate themes but I can't run it because I don't have sass..

One stupid way to get old themes is to flash an USB with old version of LM (or use Ventoy, then it is just a matter of saving an extra LM live ISO image into the USB). Boot your computer with that old LM live ISO. Copy the theme from there into your actual local drive.

Either deleting Themes or Icon themes from ~/.themes or ~/.icons did the trick apparently, now they look like this:
