linux mint desk top screen has lost upper and lower ribbons.

My desktop screen no longer shows the taskbar at the bottom, nor the strip at the top.
I have to CTRL/RT-Click to bring up a menu of applcations.

Any suggestions how to fix ?

I had something similar happen but mine was I had no background picture and could not right-click to change desktop in addition to no panel.
I added
xfdesktop
to my startup applications

Might be your problem too?

Maybe if you put
xfce4-panel
in your start up
Couldn't hurt lol
