is it just me or you also noticed that..
..folks with high reputation on Askubuntu.com acting like total jerks and down-voting your question to oblivion when you mention you're asking it for Linux Mint?

It's called askubuntu... You get tossed into Chat about Linux or Open Chat here also when you ask for support with other operating systems. Linux Mint modifies enough in the Ubuntu package base that there will be surprises for folks familiar with Ubuntu, possibly leading them to give incorrect advice.
Just use the support channels for Linux Mint. Forum or IRC, or Reddit or other social networks.
