I'm looking at buying a CF-20 Toughbook. I was told it works best with XP, but I thinking what does a computer care. Does anyone have any idea about running this box with Linux? Thanks

Are you sure of that model number? I Googled it to see what the specs were, and I can't find anything about it.

I have installed Linux Mint on a number of laptops, mainly Dell and HP, without too many problems. The main issues tend to resolve around the drivers particularly for WiFi. Windows XP is quite old and unsupported - the last Toughbooks I saw for sale were on 7 Professional as most sales are not for home use. It may be worth getting the spec for the one you intend to install Mint on and searching here for info on the relevant device drivers and posting if you cannot find any references...

Hello andyquach - Did you mean to type CF-29? Or maybe CF-30? As jimallyn has already stated, "CF-20" does not come up on a Google search.

My brother bought a CF-74 some time back. After upgrading the memory from 512MB to 4GB and upgrading the 60GB HD to a 240GB SSD, it took to Linux Mint like a duck to water. A lot of the components are Intel, so there was no need to go searching for drivers. And the function keys on the keyboard for volume, mute, screen brightness, etc. all worked as well.
