Post by Habitual »

I'm planning on installing Debian 7.8 right next to my

Code: Select all

System: Host: my-kungfu Kernel: 3.13.0-24-generic x86_64 (64 bit) Desktop: Xfce 4.11.8
           Distro: Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca
Drives: HDD Total Size: 5001.0GB (4.9% used) ID-1: /dev/sda model: ST1000DM003 size: 1000.2GB
           ID-2: /dev/sdb model: ST1000DM003 size: 1000.2GB ID-3: USB /dev/sdc model: My_Book_1130 size: 3000.6GB
Optical: /dev/sr0 model: Optiarc DVD RW AD-7280S dev-links: cdrom
Features: speed: 48x multisession: yes audio: yes dvd: yes rw: cd-r,cd-rw,dvd-r,dvd-ram
install.

What do I do when it comes time to install grub?
I'm thinking don't install one and use the update-grub utility (or some other grub-related utility) in LM to have it recognize the debian 7 on /dev/sdb

Thanks for your time.

I would think that sudo update-grub from Mint 17 is your best choice.
