Evolve OS, another new distro

Post by oldgranola »

Anyone playing with the new Evolve OS?
http://www.techrepublic.com/article/why ... om-ubuntu/
This article claims it might be the new easy entry, no learning curve desktop distro and claiming it will be light on hardware needs. Suposedly its being made from scratch but the dev's website and this article say its a fork of PiSI with GNOME stack. The article didn't compare it to LM-XFCE which I am impressed (mostly) for. But still perked my interest to pay attention to EvolveOS for when it matures a bit more. I honestly don't care but Pisi devs are proud to tout not having system.d. Evolve OS is planned to have EUFI support.

Just wondering...

I knew Ikey Doherty from a while back, he helped out here as a developer back around Mint 7,8 era. I haven't tried this new flavour either, it's 64bit only, but looks very interesting. I wish Ikey all the best.
