Elementary OS - cant connect Wifi

hello guys

I didnt get any help in Elementary OS forum, so I hope to hear advices here! i have old presario cq57 425sr notebook

so I installed Win 7 first, then Linux, installed all drivers from official site and Wifi works okay in Win7

however cant see any connections Wifi in Linux.. i also tried Manjaro Live CD and couldnt connect too - I see my Wifi but cant type password, network disconnects


any advice guys?

hi run this command in terminal
lspci

and give the results of the wirless card found

ralink realtek atheros etc

First of all, can you connect with your ethernet cable?

Since I haven't tried Elementary, I'm not sure about the distro and how it performs with your notebook. Does the Elementary use Network Manager or another app to access you wifi? You might try installing wicd from your ppa or software/package manager (Or install it via cli (sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install wicd). You should be able to see your wifi network and connect using wicd. Good luck! :)

I *think* you can install proprietary drivers in ElemetaryOS just like you do in Mint.
There should be something like a "Driver Manager" or an option off Software Sources that will inspect your hardware and present you list of options you can select.

there are some pre-installed drivers but I can not choose other Wi-fi drivers

so what can I do more?

usb plug in

i have used these w/ linux successfully even thru install
