Out of range message - Radeon 9100 IGP

Post by johannb »

Hello,
Happy user of LM17 Cinnamon, I am now taking the opportunity to revamp the old PC from my parents.
But with 384Mb RAM, I could not perform LM installation with CD (no answer/action after minutes), so tried a Lubuntu version with a text installer instead graphic one.

I can fully access Lubuntu in recovery mode, but integrated graphic card is not recognized yet.
Although not a LM release, could anyone give me a hint to solve graphic issue?

Here is result of inxi -SGX:

System: Host: oldcomputer Kernel: 3.13.0-32-generic i686 (32 bit, gcc: 4.8.2)
Desktop: LXDE (Openbox 3.5.2) Distro: Ubuntu 14.04 trusty
Graphics: Card: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD/ATI] RS300 [Radeon 9100 IGP] bus-ID: 01:05.0
X.Org: 1.15.1 drivers: ati,vesa,radeon FAILED: fbdev Resolution: 1280x1024@0.0hz
GLX Renderer: Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.4, 128 bits) GLX Version: 2.1 Mesa 10.1.3 Direct Rendering: Yes

Which action(s) / paquet installation should I perform to have the graphic card running?

Thank you in advance for any help.

I had better luck with Mint 13 xfce on a very old laptop, rather than Mint 17.

Cinnamon will not run on 384Mb RAM.
One thing you could do is to add RAM. Ebay has new DDR2 memory for less than $5 US for 1GB.
Mint 18.2 Cinnamon, Quad core AMD A8-3870 with Radeon HD Graphics 6550D, 8GB DDR3, Ralink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI
