KaOS

Post by colyn »

I installed this distro on a spare drive for testing today..

My impressions are it does not have much of a future if they keep going in the direction they are going.. They state on their website that they want to keep it small with a small user base.. With only 2041 packages in their repo there is not much available and many of the packages I installed after installation of the OS have conflicts.

The only thing I did like about it is KDE 4.14.0 the newest version which seems a bit more responsive..

The hardware requirments of this OS are also too heavy for older PC's. They claimed that they reduced the required minimum RAM to 1 GB but this is not excuse at all. I tested and I was able to run fine KDE with Mageia on 512 MB RAM without any problems and even watch YouTube videos on it.

I also like the fact that KDE 4.14 is included. :)
