I bought a bare metal desktop from eBuyer (Zoostorm) and wanted a bare Asus laptop but they couldn't comply. Asked Asus and they weren't interested so just bought the laptop and installed Ubuntu that pushed Windows off 
The Asus laptop doesn’t much like Ubuntu so it has been running Mint for the past >year.
Bought a Zoostorm laptop for my grandson (bare) and put Ubuntu on it (his preference) - superb, he loves it, especially when I put Minecraft on it and it is far better than on his dad's Mac
A bit jealous as it is a bit better than my Asus, and cheaper too!
I do find though that it is often cheaper to buy an off-the-peg machine and bin WIndows.
