Getting brightness level to stay after reboot? [SOLVED]

Post by ClutchDisc »

Hi guys, posting this in "chat about Linux" because it's not about Linux Mint. Hoping someone can help on here though. My Gateway NE56R41u laptop is running Ubuntu 14.04 and the brightness controls work fine, but they don't stay after a reboot. It goes back to 100% after every reboot. Now I have been living with this since I installed Ubuntu in April, and since I only reboot once it a great while it's not a big deal if I don't get it fixed. But I thought hey, if anyone know how to get this to stay after a reboot that would be great!

Any more details you need, let me know.

Thanks!

I don't know if this trick works for Ubuntu, but this is what I did in Mint:

First I installed xbacklight and then added it as a startup program as roblm suggested. Before that, I used to control the brightness with a script, but it didn't work in Mint 16:

First link looks like it might work, I'll give it a try on my laptop later today when I have a little more time. I will post back and let you know how it works. Thanks!
