Unticked files in Upload Manager---SOLVED.

Post by viking1au »

Just curious about all these unticked files in upload manager. - They all have a red exclamation mark in a column marked 'Type', then in a column marked 'Level', either a 4 or a 5 marked against each.:
dbus
dbus-x11
dbus-1-3
linux-headers-3.13.0-24
linux-headers-3.13.0-24 -generic
linux-image-3.13.0-24 -generic
linux-image-extra-3.13.0-24 -generic
linux -libc -dev
Just those 8, which also sat there for a few weeks, untouched, prior to a full system crash yesterday. - So bad that not even the hard drive would accept a fresh load up of Mint 17,(kept coming up with some sort of error) so I had to use another (this) hard drive.
Other drives with older systems all worked fine, negating any doubts about 'the box'. -- The only other thing I noticed, before the crash was a fan that had run dry, making a hell of a noise. - Opened it up & gave it a tiny lube but it appeared to have leaked lubricant out from under the label. - Fully cleasned & re-installed, it now seems smooth & quiet.

CPU: amd A6 5400K
8GIG RAM
NVIDIA GT6200 TURBOCACHE GRAPHIC.
Mint 17; 64 bit

Any ideas? --Thx.

The updates marked as 4 or 5 are there for the adventurous and those that are able to fix their systems when things go wrong. They are offered without the usual blessing from the Linux Mint Team. You can read more about these offered updates in the Update Manager's Preference screen.

If their appearance bothers you, turn them off by removing the tick next to "Always show security updates", accessible via a click on your Update Manager icon, Edit, Preferences, followed by a click on "Apply".
