Mint 17.1 Xfce - Floppy disk icon on desktop

Post by Metallo »

Hi,

I am on Rebecca since it came out, no issues so far.

Few days ago, the floppy disk icon appeared on my desktop, out of the blue.
Right clicking it shows:

- Open
- Mount volume

I have no floppy drive on this PC.
I applied a code I found on Ubuntu forum (cannot remember what) and it disappeared... till the following morning I turned the PC on. :(
Floppy drive is disabled in my BIOS.

All the other solutions I found on the internet seem to be workarounds, like, hiding the icon from the desktop or so on.

Does anybody know the possible root cause?
Is this a known bug?
Any real solution to get rid of it?

My configuration is in my signature.

Thank you!
Alex

What happens when you try to mount it? Does it show up in the left pane(l?) in Thunar? What does it contain?

Trying to mount it? Nothing happens.
On the other hand, how it could? There is no floppy disk to be mounted.
Yes, it shows in Thunar on the left.

Thanks

We can mount .ISO files. I was wondering if you had one on your system that was - for whatever reason - being identified as a floppy(+/-) disk. I thought it unlikely, but within the realm of possibility.
