XFCE wants to start on ext monitor

Post by Hoser Rob »

I'm running mint 17 Xfce on my laptop, and usually have an external monitor attached at home, set up as an extended desktop.

Panels etc work fine, but when it boots it tries to put the panel etc on the external monitor before putting them on LVDS1. It's a bit annoying. Anyone know some way to make it more intelligent?

Please do not suggest upgrading to 17.1 or whatever. There is a regression in the 3.16 kernel that 17.1 uses involving my intel Ironlake series video. Still trying to sort all that out. Too much outdated info out there regarding 5 year old hardware ... I'm beginning to understand the appeal of rolling release distros ...
