how to make mint remember windows sizes?

Post by HusseinMoussa »

Maximize/Minimize, I would like to know if there's an option that makes the system (or whatever that's responsible for windows sizes) remember the not-maximized sizes of the windows.

I'm using Mint 17.2 64 xfce.

Hi HusseinMoussa,

I'm also using Mint 17.2 64 xfce and not-maximized windows remember their sizes here. The only thing I can think of is that gvfs data has somehow gotten corrupted. You could open Thunar, navigate to ~.local/share/gvfs-metadata, delete all the files in that folder and reboot. That folder is a hidden folder so make sure you can see hidden folders in Thunar.

Hope this helps. :D

If you haven't, go to

settings -> session and startup

and save logout session.

Also consider using the --geometry option in the menu editor.

For example, I use

xfce4-terminal --geometry 100x50

to open up terminals (instead of just xfce4-terminal).

Hi, Sheng-Chieh. What you said seems really interesting to me since I want to learn more about the terminal. Could you please tell me What would this command do? even in a simplified way if you don't have time. Thanks a lot. :)

xfce4-terminal --geometry 100x50

Opens up a terminal w/ 100 pixel down and 50 across. Try various numbers and see what numbers you want. I.e., open up a terminal and type

xfce4-terminal --geometry 100x50
xfce4-terminal --geometry 50x50
xfce4-terminal --geometry 100x100

I like a full terminal to play with, not a small screen - but that's me. --geometry can be used with other terminal commands.
