How to enable system-sounds (effects) in Xfce?

Post by mingle »

Hi guys,

This has been a puzzler for a while...

How the heck do you get systems sounds to work on LM (17.1) xfce?

I've went into 'Appearance>Settings' and enabled 'Enable event sounds' but still nothing.

What else do I need to install to get things working?

Cheers,

Mike.

Left click the Sound icon in the panel > Sound Settings > Playback tab > adjust the volume of System Sounds.

Thanks for the reply...

All that checks-out, but there are still no 'system' sounds for the usual UI interactions (as per my old Windows box)

Is there any setting for assigning sounds to events (start-up, shut-down, error?)

Cheers,

Mike.

This has been discussed a few times over at the Xfce DE's community web forum. If you copy and paste this bit of text into a Googlemonster search box, it'll return a list of the relevant threads:
