Text in symbols/shapes?

Post by goodair06 »

Why is my text in shapes on some applications?!

Just downloaded clementine music player on Linux Mint 17.1 xfce.

Pic related.

Any help to resolve this as soon as possible would be much appreciated.

LM Menu -> System Settings (image of gears) -> Fonts -> verify you're not using some weird font as any of the defaults.

The only thing I can think of is ...

Are you missing some fonts? Figure out what font Clementine is using. Then see what font you have. If you don't have their font, then things can go wierd.
Also in Clementine, is there a way to change font (i.e., check the option, preferences, whatever)?

I don't see anything at

Well, there's your problem. That's what dingbats looks like. Change to a different font.

Lol, yeah, it's a font of symbols. So everything in the OP's picture looks pretty much as it should  .
