[Solved] Does anyone know of a GUI trash management app?

Post by markfilipak »

Hello,

Does anyone know of a GUI trash management app?

I don't have a desktop because I run Mint inside a virtual machine that is in so-called "Seamless Mode".

Thank You.

First which VM (Virtualbox or VMware ??)
--seamless mode doesn't prevent you switching to the other Host or Guest OS desktop, if you need to see the desktop..

Virtualbox, VMware --seamless mode

All I know and use is Thunar, the Xfce File Manager.

Thank you for your suggestions, but...
1, The Host's desktop can't show the Guest's trashcan, and
2, Even if I leave seamless mode so that I can see the Xfce desktop, clicking the trashcan simply opens my file manager (Double Commander) but doesn't otherwise provide any trash management.

Thank You! -ding-ding-ding-!
I didn't know Thunar managed the trash. I'll continue to use Double Commander for day-to-day work, but I'll use Thunar for trash.

Thank you for your help.

IDK how/if it works via a VM interface, but if you can use the Shift-Delete key combination instead of the Delete key by itself, your files actually get deleted(*) instead of just being moved to the "trash" directory.

(*)Well... Marked as deleted and prone to being (eventually) overwritten. Using an application such as Bleachbit (there are bound to be others, probably even ones that only "securely delete" files/directories) to delete your files and folders is probably closer to a true "delete," in that it'll overwrite the space on the hard drive which is occupied by the file. Several times.

Thank You, MDM. I knew about shift-delete, but I didn't know about bleachbit.
