Still not clear what is your problem. I have 3 XFCEs right now in 3 different distros. Looks the same. How possible catch differences between XFCE's if you tuned it identically? Oh yes, XFCE very customizable DE. One tune from another may differs much. But I don't mean I can recognise where is XFCE from Ubuntu 12.04 and when from Mint 17.1 (exclude compiz).

Is it showing up for anyone? All I see here is a polar bear in a blizzard with a white border (on a white screen).

Nope...I don't think ivtec ever attached a photo. Plus I still don't understand what the thread title means. Unless ivtec somehow lost the Whisker Menu, and is now using the plain XFCE desktop. [shrug]

The only thing I can think of that could have done this automatically is updating/adding/removing packages.

Post the output of:

Code: Select all

cat /var/log/apt/history.log

Really? In that case, what's the output of:

Code: Select all

ls /var/log/apt
?

It looks like you must have made a mistake when you entered the original command I gave.

You can either try it again, or alternatively, open the file /var/log/apt/history.log in your text editor, and then copy it and paste it all here.

You've misunderstood. You don't want to create a new file or save a file. You want to open a file that already exists. That file is /var/log/apt/history.log

Follow these steps:
1. Open gedit
2. Click on Open on the top-left
3. Click on File System on the left of the new window, and navigate to the folder /var/log/apt
4. Click once on the file history.log then click Open on the bottom-right
5. Press Ctrl+a on the keyboard to select all of the text
6. Press Ctrl+c on the keyboard to copy the selected text
7. Now you have copied the file's text, so that you can paste it here using Ctrl+v on the keyboard

Return to “Xfce”
