Xfce 17 - How to restore Mint desktop after RDP session?

Post by DonsEars »

I did a fresh install of Linux Mint 17 Xfce 64 bit on an old HP server with VGA graphics. Everything went great and it works like a champ. Then I did a remote desktop (RDP) session from a Windows computer. It worked quite well except I have lost the Mint menu and taskbar. It appears to have returned to the default Xfce desktop. I created a new user and the Mint settings are there but when I return to the first user the Mintiness is gone.

How do I restore the Mint specifics to my desktop?

I am experiencing the same problem after using RDP. This video below shows the problem on Mint+Cinnamon, but he was able to get out of it by clicking the gear icon on the logic screen and selecting a cinnamon session. When I try that with Mint+XFCE, I don't see an option to get me back to the minty flavor of xfce.

I would appreciate a way out of this.

Have you solved this issue at all? I'm stuck in the same situation as well.

Thanks
