Log Out does not shut down. Log Out is to switch users, usually.TANUJMINTLINUX wrote:Well, i am using mint 16 xfce version presently and noticed a that on shutting down by clicking on log out button the system does not shuts down and it requires hard press to shutdown manually.

Re: Shutdown not working
Add the action buttons and change its property to shutdown. I.e.,
right-click panel
-> Panel
-> Add New Items
and add the action buttons.
Then right-click the action buttons -> Properties and let shutdown be the only option (unless you want more) and toggle to Action Buttons (unless you want Session Menu).
I just click the shutdown icon, and then, press enter (Shut Down) to shutdown.

Re: Shutdown not working
With Cinnamon, I use Shelley's Shutdown Applet

Maybe there is a similar applet available to you in xfce.

Re: Shutdown not working
Can you describe exactly what does it do on "shutdown"? By any chance did you install the "Tangerine" plugin for media sharing? I only ask because this package caused a similar behavior and I filed a bug report on it a long time ago.TANUJMINTLINUX wrote:Well, i am using mint 16 xfce version presently and noticed a that on shutting down by clicking on log out button the system does not shuts down and it requires hard press to shutdown manually.

Re: Shutdown not working
Hmmm. I do this every nght and I have LM XFCE 16. Can you take a screen shot of your panel and after you click the action button? I suspect your setup is wrong.TANUJMINTLINUX wrote:Thanks! but i already tried that and it does not works.

Re: Shutdown not working
For those who encountered this kind of problem...try this simple steps...
turn off your laptop ( force )...
unplug power supply...
remove the battery...
toggle the switch button 3 seconds hold 3-4 times ...
return the battery...
plug in the power supply...
turn it on...
try shutting down using the menu...
it works for me....
