Post by 4thwall »

It's not under usr share backgrounds. Been wanting to copy them all to one of my windows pcs and also; I want to have the default wallpapers switch off.

Hm, my wallpapers are located here:
/usr/share/backgrounds/linuxmint/ (1 image)
/usr/share/backgrounds/linuxmint-maya/ (2 images)
/usr/share/backgrounds/linuxmint-maya-extra/ (15 images)

This is on Linux Mint 13 32-bit Cinnamon 2.0.14 dekstop.
But I am pretty sure that the xfce desktop gets its default wallpapers from the same base folder /usr/share/backgrounds. Only the subfolder names will vary according to the Mint version in use.

Global wallpapers are located in:
/usr/share/xfce4/backdrops/

Personal wallpapers in:
~/.local/share/xfce4/backdrops

Ok. I see. I will check whether /usr/share/backgrounds is actually a symbolic link pointing to the physical folder on my xfce systems.

Yes, here on Mint 13 xfce, /usr/share/backgrounds is a symlink pointing to ../share/xfce4/backdrops, which gives the absolute pathname /usr/share/xfce4/backdrops.

Code: Select all

 /usr/share $ ls -l backgrounds
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 24 Sep  1  2012 backgrounds -> ../share/xfce4/backdrops

Hi there,

I am using Mint 17 mate and have found all the Backgrounds in - usr/share/backgrounds/ (Respective folders for different versions of mint)

I found it by going into Change Desktop Background into Background and hovering mouse over respective scene. That gave me the file and location. Mint 17 has a lot of folders and many backgrounds. But the same principle may work on the other versions.

Regards

Jim

The 2015 is 7 years back. Create an own thead and describe your problem with more detail. Don't miss to name you Mint version, or you do use Mint 13 or 17?
