I'm using LMDE but installed KDE. All good except that there's a problem with the appearance. Hard to describe but whenever I first boot up everything looks a bit.. wrong.
One illustration of this is when I go to system settings there are 'boxes' around all the icons which don't match the rest of the background. When I set the widget style to something different in 'Application Appearance' this corrects itself, but after a reboot it's back to being 'wrong' again.
This 'wrongness' is visible in all applications but I've show the system settings one below.

Thanks in advance

Only suggestion I can make is to try fiddling with the desktop theme, or the colour scheme in Application Appearance --> Colours.
