MintUpdate not working under KDE (SOLVED sort of)

Post by JoeInMN »

Installed Mint17 Cinnamon on my new laptop with no real problems, but decided I still prefer KDE, so installed kde-full on top of it, also installing KDM and making it my default DM. I now have an odd issue with the Update Manager. When the panel icon shows that updates are available, I click it and the window comes up normally. However, when I click "Install Updates," rather than asking for my password, the window simply closes. MintUpdate doesn't quit; the icon stays active and I can repeat the process ad infinitum, but it won't ever actually run the update routine. I can log out and come back in under Cinnamon, and it will run normally there, so apparently it's having some problem specifically with KDE/Plasma. I can do the dist-upgrade via the terminal, but I don't always want to apply the entire kernel update packages too.

Here is the entire sysinfo report for my machine, in case any of it is relevant:

...aaaaand now the issue seems to have resolved itself. Don't know the what, the how, or the why of it, but MintUpdate worked normally just now. So I guess I'll mark this SOLVED, even though that doesn't really feel like the right word.
