Please generate an overview of your system like this:
- Launch a terminal window (this is how to launch a terminal window);
- make the terminal window full screen, to avoid chopped lines;
- copy/paste this command into the terminal:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
(if you type: the letter F is a capital letter)

Press Enter.

Copy/paste the output in your next message.

Your problem is that you're running that Broadcom wireless chipset on a Windows driver by means of ndiswrapper. Doesn't Driver Manager offer you a Linux driver for it? That should give you much better performance.

And while you're already using Driver Manager: does Driver Manager offer you a closed non-free nvidia driver for your graphics card? If so, install it and reboot.

Establish temporary internet connection by means of ethernet (wired).

Temporary internet by means of a wireless USB dongle that's supported out of the box in Linux?

Please read http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php? ... ht=WNA3100

I bought a TP-Link WN722N 150 Mbps USB wifi adapter to use as backup

you can check some things with

Code: Select all

ndiswrapper -l
It should tell you if the device is there and what windows driver is being used
