WirFi not connecting - needs password...( SOLVED)

Post by tenfoot »

Using a Lenovo Thinkpad 450s laptop with 256GB SSD and 8MB RAM on both LM17.2 Cinnamon and Windows 8 (dual boot)

When I try to access WiFi on my TP-Link _7A7B545 wireless router I get an dialogue box saying that Authentication required (see attached screenshot)

My question; Where do I find the information required. All I have on the base of the router is the MAC Address (F81A677A7B54) Entering this does nothing bu tell me it is incorrect :(

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd be very grateful.

Somewhere in the documentation for your router there must have been a pass key/ password listed. every router has one.
I'm not familar with that brand, but on mine here you can login to a webpage where you can login as admin and change the password.

If this is a rented router from your ISP then call their help desk, they should know the router password.

Hope you find it.

Thank you. I found the appropriate spot in the router set-up menu and entered and saved a password. All is now sweet and I have marked the subject as solved.
