Hey
I downgraded my old hp mini netbook from windows 10 dual boot in doing so i wiped out an earlier version of linux mint i had on it, I think it was 15 or 14 and I had done upgrades to.
My image backup failed to restore grub and I could not get it working so I decided load the latest version of Mint, but on live boot USB it does not recognize the wifi
I have no wired connection at this location only wifi.
I do have another brand new laptop (asus ) running 17.2 fine, but figuring out how to get the drivers to the other to install mint is beyond my knowledge.
I could try to find the mint 15 distro and start over from there but I would rather run fresh.
can someone help me thanks

Re: Live USB 17.2 Cinn does not recognize wifi
With that card, I don' think it is possible to get the wifi to work with the Live version but it should work after installing with the needed firmware.
With the computer with working wifi, open terminal and enter
Then copy the /lib/firmware/b43/ directory to a USB drive or whatever and make a b43 directory on the problem computer and copy the files and reboot.
You could try copying the files into the Live version followed by but every time I have suggested it, it seems to hang or stall
With the computer with working wifi, open terminal and enter
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer
You could try copying the files into the Live version followed by
Code: Select all
sudo modprobe -r b43
Code: Select all
sudo modprobe b43
