Enabling Wifi on Intel Wireless 7260
Hi, I'm a brand new linux user and just installed the latest Mint "Rafaela" yesterday, but I could not get the wifi working. I first started with driver manager and the only drivers I see was my nvidia graphics. I started searching around and it seems like you have to download the firmware for your wireless card which must also be compatible with your kernel version. I checked the firmware i have and my kernel and this is what I have: kernel -> 3.16.0-38-generic, firmware -> iwlwifi-7260-9.ucode and the firmware should be compatible according to this link http://bjarneo.codes/intel-7260-wireles ... ems-linux/. But the wifi is not working and every other solution that others have seems to be just updating the kernel or the firmware, I don't know what else to do.
Here's some info about my system:

Re: Enabling Wifi on Intel Wireless 7260
Try this command and reboot
Code: Select all
echo "blacklist acer-wmi" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

Re: Enabling Wifi on Intel Wireless 7260
In terminal run
It will create a wireless-info.txt file that I need you to copy the contents of and post inside of "code" tags- it is to the right of Quote in the reply window or you can type
Code: Select all
wget -N -t 5 -T 10 https://github.com/UbuntuForums/wireless-info/raw/master/wireless-info && \
chmod +x wireless-info && \
./wireless-info
Code: Select all
before the info and [/code ] after without the space between code and the ]

Re: Enabling Wifi on Intel Wireless 7260
I would go into BIOS setup and reset to defaults and see if the hard block clears from
Code: Select all
rfkill list all
Re: Enabling Wifi on Intel Wireless 7260
Do you mean resetting every setting to default? or certain settings?
Re: Enabling Wifi on Intel Wireless 7260
You could reset everything to default, then disable fast boot, secure boot, and make other changes you had before restarting.
Some people have been able to fix this by shutting down the laptop, remove battery and hold the power button for 15 seconds

Re: Enabling Wifi on Intel Wireless 7260
Hey Jeremy, thanks for keeping with me on the problem, but my wifi suddenly started working for some reason. I closed my laptop and the next day as I opened it I noticed the wifi button on my keyboard lighting up and once I logged in, wifi was available lol . I didn't even do anything with the bios yet, weird but wifi seems to be working now.

Hard blocked: no
The hard block suddenly just went away
Edit: Looked more into it and the above command did the job. It blacklisted acer ami for wifi to work and after that disconnect your wired connection and reboot and wifi will come up
