ifconfig wlan0 up not working

Post by nachos »

Hello, I have recently installed Linux Mint 17.1 64 bit and I tried the command:

Code: Select all

# ifconfig wlan0 down
This disconnects the Internet though the Wi-Fi symbol in the bottom bar shows connected to the Wi-Fi network.
When I try the command:

Code: Select all

# ifconfig wlan0 up
It doesn't seem to work though. I am not able to open any websites or ping to any known hosts. I need to reboot my system to get the Internet working.
Why is this happening?
