Been at this too long and have tried many different attempts and not sure why I didn't start here https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wi ... figuration but i've followed the steps to # ip link set wlan0 up and get No such file or directory. next I $ dmesg | grep firmware and the command is not found. This is where I wait, thanks, J

Please generate an overview of your system like this:
- launch a terminal window and make it full screen, to avoid chopped lines;
- copy/paste this command into the terminal:

(if you type: the letter F is a capital letter)

Press Enter.

Solved: non compatible dongle (for me!) as I tried another(dongle) on a restart and the whole process again the necessary folder appeared......... Thanks, this is why I haven't asked for help, you keep at it and you will solve. Thanks, J

By the way everybody, let it be known that Belkin makes several models specifically that work with LINUX USB WIFI and PCI(E)
