Hello everyone,
I got an HP Pavilion and the Wi-Fi doesn't detect any connections. I can turn the Wi-Fi on and off in Linux Mint 17.1, but it just won't show me any available connections. I tried fixing it through methods explained in other threads, but the situation hasn't changed.
You can find the wireless information concerning the notebook here:

I have no clue why wlan0 doesn't support scanning and doesn't have wireless extensions. But I think those two problems are probably the reason for the main problem.
If there is anything that would help finding a solution, please tell me and I will provide the information.
Thank you very much for your help in advance.

Re: HP Pavilion (Realtek 8723BE) not detecting Wi-Fi connect
Hi Jeremy,
thank you for your help.
I followed the instructions.
Now I get:
So, at least the "no wireless extensions" and "doesn't support scanning" is gone. I still don't find the Wi-Fi though. I'm online using the Wi-Fi connection on another computer though, so it can't be the router. Seems like the Wi-Fi Chip is working, but can't find any networks.
Any ideas?
Thanks for the help again.

One idea and reboot if you are in Germany and check the antenna connections on the wifi card
Code: Select all
sudo iw reg set DE
Re: HP Pavilion (Realtek 8723BE) not detecting Wi-Fi connect
Ran the code, didn't get any changes shown in the command prompt.
I'll try to install Windows 7 tomorrow and see if the Wi-Fi works on Win7. The HP Pavilion notebook can't be opened easily and it's a new notebook, so I don't want to void the warranty.
I'll give an update on the situation tomorrow.
Thanks for the help.

Re: HP Pavilion (Realtek 8723BE) not detecting Wi-Fi connect
Installed Windows 7. All USB Slots were 3.0, so it didn't detect anything without drivers. Had to burn them to a CD first.
Anyway: Wi-Fi works with drivers from the HP Homepage, while Linux Mint and Ubuntu didn't find any network.
Guess I'll just leave Windows 7 installed on the notebook.
