Hi, I just got a DELL 7746 and I installed the Cinnamon edition. Desk is looking good. Thanks for the cool OS!
But now I face some problems:
The wireless connection drops out every now and then and I have to manually initiate the reconnection. But all my other devices on the table stay connected all the time.
Thanks

Re: Cinnamon on DELL 7746 with wireless connection drop out
No strange things, only this: it's a very new machine.... Your hardware, including the wireless chipset, might run better on the 3.16.x kernel. Because then you have newer drivers. So first try that:
Update Manager - View - Linux kernels
After installation of the latest 3.16 kernel, reboot.

Re: Cinnamon on DELL 7746 with wireless connection drop out
I installed 3.16. Now the trackpad is acting strange (coordinates are absolute) and the internet speed is so slow that it takes half a minute to load a page. Reverting to 3.13 ...

OK, then try installing all level 4 and 5 updates (not just the security ones, but all of them). Also install the latest kernel *within the 3.13 series*. Afterwards, reboot.

That's weird....petepluto wrote:Thanks. But I cannot install kernels anymore:

Some Google searching on this error suggests that the file "http" can be copied from another system, which should solve your problem.
So I've uploaded the file "http" from my own system, to my website. You can download it here:
https://sites.google.com/site/easylinux ... ects=0&d=1
After downloading it, simply leave it in the folder Downloads and execute this command:
Code: Select all
sudo cp -v ~/Downloads/http /usr/lib/apt/methods/
