Hi I have been trying to solve this for a few weeks, and I am going crazy. Hopefully someone can help me with this problem. I installed linux mint and somehow got my computer to now view the wifi networks. However, even though I can see the networks, it will not let me connect to them. I put in the password and it just keeps cycling through and the window for the passworrd comes up again.
the ouput of sudo /usr/lib/linuxmint/mintWifi/mintWifi.py

Please generate an overview of your system like this:
- launch a terminal window and make it fullscreen, to avoid chopped lines;
- copy/paste this command into the terminal:
Try if you get a better result by switching to another driver, namely the bcmwl-kernel-source ("wl"). You should be able to do that by means of Driver Manager. Afterwards, reboot.
- What's the signal strength of the wireless network you're trying to connect to?
- On what channel is your router transmitting, and how crowded is that channel? Set it to the least crowded of these three: 1, 6 or 11.
- Change your network security to WPA2 Personal with AES only.

Well when I could view the network it was a very strong signal. However, now .... I unchecked that driver, and its still not viewing networks. I am soo lost.

Ordinarily, for WPA(2) you should have the options TKIP, AES only or AES+TKIP. Change that to "AES only" (it's the most secure option as well, so it's the best in any case).
In the event its not that, do you have any other ideas?
I assume you have a router on this connection? Are you using its default configuration? What router do you have? Have you used this router successfully with Linux before?
It is not that, it has to be something with how the wireless is behaving. Either its being blocked or it is not being given enough time to connect. There also could be another driver being blocked. No idea.

It seems you've properly diagnosed you own problem....Good Luck!
