I am using Linux Mint 17.1 .
It does not detect all the networks.
Someone suggested me it is because I should change frequency/bandwidth from 2GHz to 5GHz.
But how can I do that? I am not finding anyway to do it.
Could it be that is the current driver of my wifi card? In case, how can I debug/troubleshoot the system?

There are two solutions to this current issue. The CROWDYUPSTAIRS router is only delivering a 5ghz wifi bandwidth. It is more common currently to find wifi networks using only 2.4ghz but most modern devices detect and can use both 5ghz and 2.4ghz. The advantages of a wider 5ghz bandwidth are that you can stream more data on a wider bandwidth and does not have as much neighbouring interference that 2.4ghz bandwidths have. This is the reason in the CROWDY OFFICE they only have 5ghz bandwidth wifi.
Solution 1: Check your wireless adpapter on your laptop and make sure it can detect 5ghz wifi bandwidths.
Solution 2: Ask Mark to make the wireless router turn on 2.4ghz bandwidths

There are two solutions to this current issue. The CROWDYUPSTAIRS router is only delivering a 5ghz wifi bandwidth. It is more common currently to find wifi networks using only 2.4ghz but most modern devices detect and can use both 5ghz and 2.4ghz. The advantages of a wider 5ghz bandwidth are that you can stream more data on a wider bandwidth and does not have as much neighbouring interference that 2.4ghz bandwidths have. This is the reason in the CROWDY OFFICE they only have 5ghz bandwidth wifi.
Solution 1: Check your wireless adpapter on your laptop and make sure it can detect 5ghz wifi bandwidths.
Solution 2: Ask Mark to make the wireless router turn on 2.4ghz bandwidths

I just wanted to re-emphasize JeremyB's instructions.
When you are submitting such a long list of results it is best
to enclose this list within code tags. Simply clck the Code button at the top of your reply
window and paste the information where the blinking cursor is. That creates a nice scrollable box that
also keeps your comments visible and allows your responders to see the pertinent information.

The band selection is determined by the hardware capabilities of the wireless network adapter. If you do not have a dual-band wireless card, then you are limited to single-band operation, which is strictly 2.4GHz.bitliner wrote: Jeremy isn't there any driver to support 5ghz bandwidth?
